The Menlo School football team defeated host Los Altos 56-6 in a non-league matchup on Friday night to stay undefeated at 3-0.
The Knights diversified getting scores via rushing, passing, and defense. Knights junior quarterback Jack Freehill, who had six touchdowns last week, tallied four more. He passed for two touchdowns to senior Jamie Forese and one to Tyler Fernandez, and ran for another. Freehill completed 16 of 22 passes for 189 yards and three TDs, caught a 51-yard pass from fellow quarterback Ben Salama to help set up a TD, and rushed for another score.
Receiver/linebacker Jamie Forese recorded 56 receiving yards, t touchdowns and made a team-high nine nine tackles on the other side of the ball. Junior Chuck Wynn had 109 all-purpose yards with 98 rushing yards and two TDs.
Sophomore Nathan Banatao added a pick-6 and Salama, who finished with 91 passing yards, fired a touchdown pass to fellow senior Ryan Jabal.
Senior David Mhatre posted eight tackles, including four for a loss while junior Liam Pappalardo, and senior Brett Frauenhofer combined for 10 tackles. KC Chavinson and Trevor van der Pyl also had interceptions.
Menlo (3-0) scored on the opening possession with Wynn moving the ball downfield at will. Freehill connected with Tyler Fernandez for a 31-yard gain, and Freehill would later run around for a touchdown run. The Eagles (1-2) countered with a 12-play scoring drive, capped by Giancarlo Mendoza’s 1-yard run, but would not score again.
